What happens at a Picture Book Creations Workshop?

Well, asides from plenty of fun, laughter and making new friends, we are always very busy learning and working creatively. There will is a high level of teaching, support and encouragement from staff as groups are deliberately kept small.

All creative work focuses on the illustrations of the chosen picture book. We learn about the illustrators’ techniques, and the type of mediums used to create the artwork. We then explore and practise such skills in our sketchbooks.

Next, we enjoy creating copycat paintings and other forms of artwork from the picture book using our new skills. This will include a variety of mediums including sketching, watercolour, acrylic, collage, printing, and 3D model making.

A copy of the picture book and sketchbook are included in the price of the two-day course and each child gets to take all their artwork home. All this creativity takes place in the beautiful Rye Hill barn nestled in the Wiltshire countryside. It offers plenty of space for work, relaxation, and play. Where possible we will also take our artwork outside.

If this sounds like something your budding Picasso would absolutely love and you have questions, please get in touch and we’d be happy to help.
